MIDNIGHT FAIRYTALE

Delta High School       Please enter through the East Doors
Beautiful invitation to Prom.  Thanks so much Finlinsons!

HALLWAY: Supplies we need to gather up

Although I have divided these up into family areas, if you accept the assignment and see that your assignment is finished, please help others so that we can all end our work together, or there about.
I have only included the names of people I have heard are helping us with the hallway.  Others are very very welcome and we will plug in as you desire.  Also, changes and suggestions are very appreciated.

SET UP:  We will start putting up the plastic Saturday, March 15th at 9 am.  Decorating the hall will begin at noon.  We would like the hallway completely decorated by Tuesday evening.
NOTE:  We are decorating the EAST hallway instead of the West.  This is because of the parking situtation.

Johnsons and Phillipsons:
Pick up fences, arch, greenery, and flowers from Woods Friday or Saturday a week before
  Entry hall and outside
  Make stands for entry flowers
? Sunset backdrop from Betty Jo Western/County Fair Building
  Decorations:
  Oversized flowers in pastels.
White arch, wire together and make stand firmly.  Wire willlows on the arch for entrance into the Midnight Walkway.

Outdoor lights, with lights between (Saturday).  Decorations:

Herberts and Willoughby's:
Plastic for the tunnel, the length of the hall (or plasic)
The tunnel will only be about half as wide as the hallway, and curve with three different scenes as they walk along.  The first scene is totally hidden from view until you are upon it (black canvas 10'x10'), turning next to the pocket it is in.  The second scene may or may not be seen (10'x10').  The third is on the bend going into the gym, seen and brighter as they walk down the last walkway into a wider area and turning into the entrance of the gym.

Supplies needed:
ladders, wire to hang (can we hang from ceiling), wood for extra support or to hold roof., large clear tape to connect unwanted plastic holes
10'x20' backdrop:  pvc to hang the backdrop.  Wood for support.  Wire to hang
10'x10' backdrop:  pvc to hang the backdrop.  Wood for support.  Wire to hang
10'x10 black canvas.  Prefer to cut off unpainted area or hide it.  This is heavy.
Black plastic $49.95 for 16'x100':  Black plastic needs to be hung from the ceiling as a tunnel, wide enough for a couple and one
poofy dress.  Tom and Jared are in charge.  Wire to hang.  Wood?  How will we hang it?
Things to work around:  water fountain, girls locker room.  Other?
Extension cords to plug in lights.
6 plug in adapters as needed as well.
Spot lights x2

Christensens and Laws:
First Walkway:
Put fences into place and wire for TOTAL stubility.  May need feet or to double fences for a bend.  We currently have 15 ready to go, but to share along hallway.  More if needed.  Sticks are at Wood's.

First Scene:
Supplies needed:
2 stumps for the first scene
1 bare tree, standing, missing branches on back to lean against the backdrop.  This tree could be spot-sprayed on tips and then glittered. The first scene will be fairly dark with a few lights in tree.
Use blue flower's.  They will need standing supports (cup with cement or rocks)
At least 3 rope Christmas lights on floor beginning at the beginning of tunnel.  Then start with icicle lights.
Greenery.

Ridings and Merion:
Second Walkway:
Put fences into place and wire for TOTAL stubility.  May need feet or to double fences for a bend.  We currently have 15 ready to go, but to share for hallway.  More if needed.  Sticks are at Wood's.
Add Christmas lights to the fences.  This hallway should be noticably lighter than the first.
Greenery sparcely along the way.  Flowers here and there.

Second Scene:
Sitting area (at Wood's borrowed from Lava Java)
The scene will have a 10x10 forest/tree scene in the night.
1 larger tree, standing, missing branches on the back so it van lean against the backdrop.  This tree could should be spot sprayed and glittered (mostly tips and areas that you want highlighted).  Add cherry blossoms to the tree.
3 oversized pink flowers, possibly more.
Greenery bushes.  Wood's have loose flowers you may use as needed.
This scene will be comfortably light.  Add Christmas lights as needed and possibly a small spotlight.

Herberts, Lovells, and Willoughbys:
Third Walkway:
Put fences into place and wire for TOTAL stubility.  May need feet or to double fences for a bend.  We currently have 15 ready to go, but to share for hallway.  More if needed.  Sticks are at Wood's.
Add Christmas lights to the fences.  This hallway should be brighter, than the second.
Vines hanging from the ceiling as needed (green paper twisted, possibly with a bit of brown)
Greenery sparcely along the way.  Flowers here and there.  Bushes here and there.  Loose flowers available from Woods.

Third Scene:
The scene will have a 10x'20' forest/scene in the night.
3 larger trees, missing branches on the back so it van lean against the backdrop.  These tree should be spot sprayed and glittered (fairly heavily).  Add yellow flowers to one of the trees.  Other trees need schredded paper glued to a green net and then a few green balloons place on top to give the illusion of full green leaves on top.   These trees would probably be better to have thicker limbs and less branches (even just 3).
Pink oversized flowers (they will need support to make stand)
Greenery bushes and flowers around.  Loose flowers available from Woods.
Spotlight shining into the entrance area before the gym.

Woods and Matt:
From the scene to the entrance of the dance:
Willow backdrop
Willows to continue the willow branches theme.
Wisteria in the willows.   Purple forsythia (what you've never heard of that) in backdrop.
Other oversized flowers on the backdrop.
 2 square arches
? Walls
?  Table for tickets
Opening for stairs and bathroom
Willow flower stands with greenery.  (I haven't got these pictured in my head yet, but they are ready)
? Begin whatever walls they are using in the dance area here as well.
Second and possibly a third spotlight on the walk-through.

Tie it all together.

HALLWAY: Entrance

Just the pastel ones
The Entrance needs to be decorated as well.  Hopefully we will have a sunsut backdrop that can block off some of the area.  Add trees, wrapped in black paper to give the continued illusion of sunset and sillouttes.

The entrance into the hallway will be an oversized flower garden with a willowy arch.  Enter, walking into the dark - with only a small bit of light, you walk to the right as the trail leads you.  Soon you find a handrailed fence with a bit of greenery and some small twinkley lights.  Then the fences turn you as you see a dim scene with trees, stumps and a bit of greenery tucked back in a pocket next to where you just came from.  On either side of the arch is an oversized flower.

Once again the fences lead you, through more light, down another walk way.  This time you can see a scene in the background (small mural), with trees and greenery.  The walkway is a bit lighter and more greenery can be seen with flower patches here and there.  The scene at the end of this walkway has a bench and a cozy feeling.

http://www.duitang.com/people/mblog/20192306/detail/  After reading through these instructions we have adapted them for cost here:

There is another scene, now visable, and you walk down another short walkway with fences, greenery and lights into this spotlighted scene with trees and oversized bushes with flowers.  This scene is a large scene and turns you into the entrance area for the courtyard where the dance will be held.

Turning into the well-lit area you see a willow backdrop, trees with balloon leaves and an oversized rose garden. The backdrop cuts off the view of the dance, but also gives a feeling of walking into something beautiful, just within grasp.

The entire hallway (or as much plastic as we have) will enclose the walkways and the scenes to control the light allowed in and suggest walkways and turns.

HALLWAY: Entrance into the forest.

Using the white arch, wired well into place, add sticks to cover the white.  Add light greenery.  Add Christmas lights.

HALLWAY: 1st Walkway

Christensen and Law:
This will start dark, with just a rope light along the bottom to be able to see clearly to walk.  Halfway through, add a fence with some greenery and Christmas lights.  Add greenery touches here and there. Drinking fountain needs to be accessible.

HALLWAY: 1st scene

Christensen and Law:

This scene will have black as the background.  One spotlight with a small bulb.

  • Put a tree in a Christmas tree stand.  This tree needs a net with crimped, schredded paper glued to it.
  • Make/add green paper bushes.  Add touches of flowers, but don't overdue.
  • Make/add one green paper bush with rose centered daisy.
  • Put a couple of stumps for sitting.

HALLWAY: 2nd walkway

Riding and Merion:  (I am aweful at spellings names, sorry)

This walkway will have more fences, greenery and lights than the first hallway, but not as much as the 3rd walkway.

  • Add fences
  • Add sticks
  • Add a some greenery.  Include a few flowers
  • Add twinkle lights.

HALLWAY: 2nd scene area

  • Hang 10'x10' mural on a pvc pipe to bend in a semi circle.  Make sure it is hung very sturdy.
  • Make trees.  These trees will have spot painting on the tips with silver paint and glitter.  These can have crimped/schredded paper on them but they will not have balloons.  Add daisy flowers to one of these trees.
  • Place bench in place.
  • Add greenery, including paper bushes with flowers.
  • Add lights.  This area should have more lights and more greenery than the first scene but not as much as the last one.
Just planning on the cherry and a couple large

HALLWAY: Last walkway

This effect should be lighter than at any other part of the hallway, with the exception of the last mural.
  • Put up fence
  • Make some paper greenery to go around the bottom.
  • Add lights as needed.
  • Add twisted green/brown paper vines and hang.
  •

HALLWAY: Last turn before gym

There are about 5
  • Hang 10'x20' backdrop on PVC pipe so that it can bend around the corner.
  • Make 10 glittered stars, of varying sized to hang in front of the backdrop.  If you like the way it looks, you may want to make and add more above heads in this area.
  • Make 6 trees for this area to place as desired.  Put branch in Christmas Tree stand.  Wrap with brown paper, making three branches (or more) at the top to hold up the balloons and flowers.  Add net with crimped, shredded paper glued on in places.  Balloons can be added Saturday very easily by blowing up and throwing into the net.
  • Hang a spotlight to appear as a moon.  Plug in, angle as desired.
  • Multiple (estimated 6 large) bushes made of green paper leaves, with wire inside.  Add flowers to some of the bushes.
  • Hang a couple of vines (out of the walking area).
  • Add sticks as needed.  Spot glitter them.
